Why Motor Tax slips
- Renewal periods vary. Vehicles taxed for 3, 6 or 12 months all come due at different points in the year.
- An untaxed vehicle can be fined, clamped or seized, and a clamped van is a lost operating day on top of the penalty.
- Renewing requires valid insurance and, where relevant, a current roadworthiness certificate, so a lapsed CVRT can block the tax renewal too.

Does FleetMain renew the Motor Tax for me?
No. FleetMain tracks the dates and tells you when to act. Renewal itself is done through the national Motor Tax service online or at a Motor Tax office. FleetMain makes sure you know it is coming, with enough notice to do it comfortably.
Can it handle different renewal periods on different vehicles?
Yes. Each vehicle carries its own Motor Tax expiry date, so vehicles taxed for 3, 6 or 12 months are all tracked independently on their own cycle.
Does it track UK road tax as well?
Yes. Set a vehicle to GB and it is tracked against VED and MOT using UK terminology, alongside your Irish vehicles on the same dashboard.
